Extension/retraction system

The A380 took centre stage during its flight presentation at the 2012 Farnborough International Airshow.

Combining state-of-the-art components such as sensors, uplocks and electrical or hydraulic actuators, today's landing gear extension/retraction control systems are computer-controlled. The power source may be hydraulic or electrical, and the gear can always be extended by gravity if needed, in emergency mode.

Safran Landing Systems created a hybrid electrohydraulic actuator for the new A400M military aircraft to open the landing gear doors: hydraulic in normal mode and electric in alternate mode.
