Messier-Bugatti at the Farnborough International Air Show, July 19 to 25
Messier-Bugatti will showcase the following products on the Safran stand:
- The carbon brake for the Boeing Next-Generation 737 family, providing weight savings of 600 to 700 lb (270 to 320 kg) per aircraft, which reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. These carbon brakes will also reduce airline operating costs, since they double the lifespan of the brake heatsink to 2,200 landings per overhaul (LPO). Messier-Bugatti offers a carbon brake that is certified on the entire Boeing 737NG family (737-600, 737-700, 737-800, 737-900, 737-900ER and BBJ), as either original equipment or a retrofit. To date, these carbon brakes have been ordered for 160 new aircraft, and 143 aircraft already in service.
- The prototype of the carbon brake for the Airbus A350 XWB. This brake incorporates the proven technology of Sepcarb®III OR carbon disks, and delivers the best combination of endurance and braking performance. Messier-Bugatti will also provide the two nose wheels and eight main wheels for the aircraft. These are all eco-designed and produced, as are the eight brakes, in particular based on the use of water-soluble paints and the elimination of chromium.
- The electric brake on the Boeing 787 main landing gear, produced by Messier-Dowty, which will be the first electric brake on a commercial airplane in revenue service.
Messier-Bugatti will also be showing several innovative systems for the A380, reflecting the trend towards "more electric" aircraft, and will spotlight the latest advances by its R&D teams.
