Our Manufacturing Engineer department at Safran Landing Systems in Gloucester is offering a great opportunity of a Degree Apprenticeship programme to become a Manufacturing Engineer.
This is a challenging and varied role which includes the following responsibilities:
- • Creation and maintenance of standard operation layouts.
- • Creation and maintenance of manufacturing stage models and drawings.
- • Design of jigs, fixtures, special tooling, assembly methods and lifting equipment.
- • Creation and maintenance of CNC programs.
- • Staying up to date with new technologies
- • Support initiatives to improve quality, cost, delivery, health and safety and environmental performance.
You will have a keen interest in science and engineering and be able to demonstrate a methodical and thorough approach to work.
You will possess excellent problem solving abilities. The role of apprentice will require you to be a confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills. You will be a motivated, hard-working individual with excellent planning and organisational skills. The ability to effectively work as part of a team and on your own will be key to your success.
Successful candidates will need to have achieved, or expect to achieve at least 3 A-levels in a relevant discipline including Maths and one Science or technology and have achieved, or expect to achieve at least 5 GCSE's at grade 4 or above to include Maths, English, Science and a technology.
The programme follows a structured level 6 apprenticeship including a BEng Manufacturing Engineer degree.
This qualification is based on national occupational standards requiring you to demonstrate both engineering skills and knowledge, with the ability to organise work and identify and prevent problems.
Year 1: You will spend time at a private local engineering training provider where the relevant qualification units will be delivered and assessed. As part of your apprenticeship you will complete:
- • Practical training
- • Level 6 apprenticeship
- • Manufacturing Engineer Degree
Year 2-5: You will be working directly in the company and provided with specific training relating to the business. You will continue day release at University to complete your degree.
This will enable you to develop an excellent foundation in Engineering.
