As a large-scale engineering and manufacturing site with technical complexities and after sales support within the aerospace industry, our site-led communications are key in supporting our strategy, products and services.
We are pleased to be recruiting for an intern to join us for a 12 month period. This would be a fantastic development opportunity for someone who is interested in / passionate about a career in communications as well as the aerospace industry!
The role would include the following;
Marketing and PR Events
It's an exciting time and we are busy! As a function we run large- and small-scale events, on- and off-site. They can include;
- • Client / Customer Site Visits
- • Key Milestone Events
- • Air Shows & Exhibitions
- • Science Fairs
- • Formal Dinners
- • Recruitment and Mentoring Events
- • Sports competitions
But there are opportunities to do more and it can be as big or as small as you want it. We are looking for someone to come on board, embrace the opportunity and take the responsibility of representing the face of Safran.
Reporting to the Site Communications Lead, you will be involved in organising events down to the smallest detail covering things such as;
- • Graphics
- • Promo items
- • Liaising with suppliers, aerospace bodies, government and other stakeholders
You'll have the opportunity to attend events and be an ambassador for Safran, networking with key stakeholders and promoting our key behaviours.
Creative Writing & Digital Skills
You would also have the opportunity to take a lead on internal communications. We would love for you to attend these events, and use your creative writing skills to creative articles to share information back to site via our intranet.
In terms of digital, you be will involved in running and maintaining the company's NEW & EXCITING bespoke APP to deliver digital content, including creating and editing short smartphone videos for this.
You will also have the opportunity to work with media (including local media, aerospace magazines) for editorial pieces to promote the business.
We have interesting facts / historic articles stored on site which is a project in its own right. This would run alongside your day-to-day tasks and would be an opportunity to help us make a difference in how we store our library of information. You would be key in helping us devise a more effective organised way of referencing all our items, and, where relevant, ensuring that historic pieces are sent to museums, therefore preserving the history and legacy of the company in Gloucester and the UK!
You will also have the opportunity to pitch new fun and interesting ideas and projects to encourage employee engagement, foster team-building for the site!

You consider yourself to be resilient and hardworking, and unphased by a packed diary of events! You are confident in liaising and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders across all functions and hierarchies of businesses.
Highly driven and motivated to meet (sometimes) challenging deadlines, you are comfortable and able to work alone using your own initiative as well as within a multi-function team. You are organised and able to prioritise and re-prioritise where necessary.
Alongside the stakeholder engagement and time management, you are also a creative thinker. You have a passion and strength in communication, have excellent interpersonal skills, find joy in creative writing and enjoy thinking outside the box and suggesting new ways of tackling projects or challenges.
To be considered you will either be educated to A-level standard (or equivalent) with some relevant demonstrable experience of working within a Communications role, or, you will be an undergraduate or post-graduate, within a relevant creative subject (marketing, PR, creative writing).
